19 Sep First Week in Australia
Both the team and Arctan have arrived in Adelaide! Thanks to Cathay Pacific for safely shipping Arctan.
The car arrived one day ahead of schedule in the awesome workshop we are fortunate to call home for the week. Solitaire Automotive Group has generously provided us with the space; thank you to the whole crew for being incredibly friendly and helpful.
The team is working hard to prepare Arctan and the convoy for the 2015 World Solar Challenge. We are modifying the shipping crate by painting it the team colors, adding an additional level for storage, and applying the banner with sponsor logos. Frequent trips to the hardware store and supermarket are keeping us going. Once that is completed, the crate will be attached to the flatbed trailer.
We are swapping the motors on Arctan for the backup ones, in order to test both sets. The team is equipping convoy vehicles with communications equipment including radios, satellite phones, and warning lights as well as team and sponsor decals. The code team is testing the boards to ensure they are functioning properly and is setting up telemetry systems in the chase vehicle.
We even had the opportunity to all sit down for a home cooked team dinner. Salmon, mashed sweet potatoes, and fried rice were on the menu!
We head for the Outback this coming Wednesday, so stay posted for updates on our race preparations!
